Silk was born in Fredericton in New Brunswick Canada. Ilkay Silk is the child of Peter Silk, a professor as well as Anna Silk who is a director, actress and producer. She is also a playwright. Anna is a part first memories of attending to rehearsals for plays. Silk appeared in several commercials as a child. In 1997, she graduated with an associate's degree from St. Thomas University. Early theater work involves at minimum two shows in collaboration with Theatre St. Thomas: Seven Menus and The Kitchen. Silk started her career in acting when she moved to Toronto Canada in November of 1999. After that, she relocated to Los Angeles for the remainder of that decade. Seth Cooperman met Silk at an Actors Workshop at Los Angeles in 2007. They got engaged in 2009 and were wed in a civil ceremony celebration in December. In Fredericton on the 10th April of 2011, following her decision to convert to Judaism the couple renewed their vows at a Jewish marriage ceremony.
