Selena Gomez, an actress and singer, is a household name internationally. Her Disney show Wizards of Waverly Place is one of her best-loved shows. Her real name is Selena Marie Gomez. Her birth date was July 22 of 1992 in Grand Prairie Texas. Amanda Cornett and Ricardo Gomez were her parents. Selena's mom was only 16 at the time Selena first came to the scene. When she was just 9 years old Selena was able to make her first job on the stage as she portrayed Gianna on Barney and her Friends. She became one of those kids who played with the world's best-known reptile, the purple anthropomorphic dinosaur. Selena was a part of several episodes in season 7 and 8 from 2001 until 2003. Interesting information: Demi Lovato, who was part of Barney's Friends at the time too, also worked with Selena. Selena Gomez tried out for many roles after leaving Barney and the Friends, however, she failed. She also was given the character as Emily Grace Garcia in the 2007 Brain Zapped program for which she wrote a song.
